After a long deployment to Afghanistan, US Marine Corp soldier, Joe Schilling was looking forward to some R&R with his family. Little did he know the festive holiday gift he was about to receive would become an international sensation.
One Marine’s Christmas story. A man who served in Iraq, then came back to America, and finally got a job with a local clothing store in his hometown. The store was having a holiday sale, and he wanted to buy a gift for his mom, so he bought himself a Ugly Christmas Sweater. He ended up wearing it to the store. It wasn’t until later that he learned about the ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’ tradition, which began in the 1980s. His wife had gotten a few ugly sweaters, too.
I just bought an ugly Christmas sweater for a USMC Soldier who is serving overseas. He was inspired by one of the Marines on his team, so this would be the perfect gift for him.

In conclusion, I’m writing this blog post because I want you to know that regardless of your gender, race, age, or sexual orientation, you have more power than you think you do. No matter who you are, you have the ability to change the world around you through the choices that you make and the actions that you take. If you want to see positive change, you need to start with yourself. We can all make a difference, and there’s nothing more powerful than a person with the mindset and actions of a leader.
