In this case, the hook is the image itself. It is the only element of the ad that tells the reader what this product is about. This image is not the best for this ad because it’s a generic shoe that does not immediately tell you what this product is about. However, if this were a shoe ad, this is the image I would use to grab the attention of a customer.

This product was inspired by my trip to New York City, which I wrote about in my last blog post. We wanted to capture the sights and sounds of the Big Apple through a set of photos that looked like a painting. The final result was a set of prints that looks like a painterly abstraction.
